  • What is Premium Membership?

    This membership grants you access to all our premium titles which are currently available on the platform as well as the titles which we will add in future. In addition to premium titles, you also get access to all Live Sports, including Cricket, Premier League, F1, Tennis and many more. This is our all-inclusive pack.

    We offer 2 plans for Premium membership. A deeply discounted yearly plan for Rs. 999 or a monthly recurring plan for Rs. 299. All our subscription plans are non-refundable.

    Our free content continues to be available for free for all users.

  • What videos are available in the premium catalogue?

    Premium English shows and movies are exclusively available to members only. We have library as well as current seasons for a number of shows, and we are continuously adding to our extensive premium catalogue.

    We also have latest Hindi and regional movies for exclusive access to premium members.

    Not only this, we also allow exclusive early access to your favourite prime time TV shows. Latest primetime episodes are available on Hotstar at 6pm IST every day, before they air on TV.

    Live sports are available to Hotstar Premium and All Sports members.

    Please note that the premium videos that we can offer are subject to streaming rights available with us. This means that we may have rights to stream only certain seasons of a show, or that only a certain number of latest episodes may be available with us.

  • How do I become a premium member?

    1. Go to premium.hotstar.com from any browser to pick between All Sports or Premium plans
    2. Register with your email ID and password, or with your Facebook account.
    3. Enter your payment details.

    iOS users now have the option of purchasing the Hotstar plans on iTunes! as well.

  • Is this service available outside India?

    This membership is only available in India. The premium videos are available on Desktop web, Android,iOS and Living Room devices (FireTV, AndroidTV, AppleTV, Chromecast).

  • How long is the membership valid?

    Your membership is valid as long you don't cancel it. Your membership may only get interrupted in case your payment is disrupted due to credit card expiry or third party payment process failure. If we make any changes in the structure of the membership, we will inform you before we roll out the changes.

  • Are there any restrictions on my membership?

    At this point in time, only one premium video is playable from one subscriber account. This is to ensure that your premium membership is not misused.

    In case you see an error that says you are trying to access premium videos from more than one device, please check if you are already streaming another premium video at the same time from another device. To continue watching the current video, make sure you have stopped the earlier video. Refresh on current device to continue watching the premium video.

  • What are the system requirements necessary for premium membership?

    Premium content works best on:

  • What is DRM and how does it affect me?

    DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. Our premium content is DRM protected. DRM protection ensures that the content cannot be copied, transferred or modified in any way.

    To watch DRM protected videos you will need a valid subscription and a device/application that supports DRM.

    Our DRM protected content will not play on browser tabs that are in incognito/private mode as this mode prevents Hotstar from streaming video in a secure environment. To ensure that you are able to enjoy this content, please playback from a browser tab in standard mode.

  • I am a Jio user. What videos are available to me in the premium catalogue?

    Jio users get access to live sports, prime time episodes and selected Indian movies for free. If you are a Jio user, you will need a Hotstar Premium membership to watch premium English content.

Hotstar VIP

  • Can I watch all premium content if I buy the Hotstar VIP?

    You can watch all the content as a Hotstar VIP subscriber except for American/International TV shows and movies.

  • Can I upgrade from Hotsar VIP to an Hotstar Premium Annual by paying the difference?

    Absolutely, you can upgrade from Hotstar VIP to Hotstar Premium Annual by paying the difference. You can do this from My Account on supported app versions.

    Facility to upgrade by paying the difference is not applicable for subscriptions purchased via iTunes or Roku or offline vouchers distributed by our partners

  • Is Hotstar VIP ad free?

    You will notice personalized ads while subscribed to this plan.

Service usage issues

  • I am facing video playback issues. What do I do?

    If you are facing video playback issues:

    • Ensure that cookies are enabled on your web browser to watch premium content.
    • Please check if you have signed in with your correct subscriber credentials. Check your subscription status in the 'My Account' section.
    • If you are seeing a concurrent stream error, ensure that only one premium content stream is being accessed from your account, across devices. Close the earlier video if you were already streaming something, and refresh on your current device.

    In case you still face issues, you can send us a screenshot of the error from your subscribed email address.

  • Why am I getting an error saying content not available in my region?

    Geographical restrictions apply for streaming content outside India. It may be possible that the content you are trying to view is not available in your country. Do note that premium membership is available only in India.

    If you are in India and still see such an error, it may be possible that your IP may be routed through outside India. Please contact your service provider to resolve this issue.

  • Can I watch Hotstar on my Smart TV?

    Yes, you can watch Hotstar on Smart TV using Google Chromecast, Fire TV, Android TV and Apple TV. We plan to support more smart TV apps in near future. Watch out our website for updates!

Billing

  • How am I getting billed for my subscription?

    Hotstar membership is a recurring subscription service. Membership charges are billed at the beginning of each billing period. Membership charges for the Hotstar VIP, Hotstar Premium Monthly, and Hotstar Premium Annual plan are non-refundable.

    If you would like to know your billing cycle or view payment history, please visit the My Account section.

    Subscribers with in-app purchases on iTunes should check their payment history and renewal dates on iTunes.

  • What are the different payment methods available for the membership?

    We currently support recurring subscription through credit cards, Paytm, iTunes subscriptions and debit cards.

    Membership through credit cards

    You need to provide your credit card details in order to let us charge you for your membership every month. We do not store your credit card details. Since this membership is for India only, we only accept credit cards issued by India-based financial institutions.

    All our subscription plans are recurring in nature. Once you start your membership, you authorize us to deduct payments automatically from your credit card.

    If you wish to stop the payments and cancel the membership, please visit the My Account section and click on cancel membership.

    Membership through iTunes

    You can purchase the All Sports plan or monthly Premium Membership through our iOS App for billing with iTunes. The Rs. 999 plan will be made available on iTunes shortly.

    Membership through Paytm

    You can purchase your membership through your Paytm wallet. Your membership payment will be deducted from your Paytm wallet.

    Do remember to keep sufficient balance in your Paytm wallet so that you have a smooth recurring subscription experience.

    If you wish to stop the payments and cancel the membership, please visit the My Account section and click on cancel membership.

  • Are charges inclusive of taxes?

    Yes, your membership charges are inclusive of taxes.

  • How do I review my payment history on Hotstar?

    You can see your billing history by clicking on 'View Transactions' in My Account section. You will also be able to access invoices for all successful payments from this section.

    iTunes subscribers can see their payment history on iTunes.

  • Why is my latest payment not visible in My Account?

    Payments take about a week to reflect in the account section. While that does not affect your billing period and video viewing privileges as long as your payment has gone through successfully, the transactions may take a few days to reflect in the My Account section.

  • I'm seeing charges from Hotstar that I did not authorize. What are these?

    If you do not recognize charges coming from Hotstar or if you suspect someone else is using your payment information, please contact us immediately at hello@hotstar.com. We take fraud, identity theft and other unauthorized access very seriously.

  • How to use the "Pay by cash" option?

    This payment option is available on the limited plan(s) only. You may place an order via "Pay by cash" method and you will get immediate access to Hotstar. We will then make an attempt to reach out to you on the registered address within the next 3-4 days to collect the payment.

  • What are the detailed steps to apply the Pay by Cash on VIP Plan?

    • Select the Plan
    • Add address > Add the PIN Code
      • If the PIN Code shows not a serviceable area, the page will prompt you to use another payment method
      • If the PIN Code shows a serviceable area, the page will allow you to add your Full address and Mobile number
    • A verification Code will be sent on the mobile number
    • Once you verify your mobile no. via by entering the code you will see a summary page of the order
    • Click on 'Start Membership' to place request for cash pick-up
    • Once done you will see 'Order Successful' page Our Service representative will collect cash payment from your registered address within next 3-4 days.
  • I opted for "Pay by cash" for the VIP Plan and but my PIN Code is not accepted; what should I do?

    The Pincode is not accepted when your area is not a serviceable area. While we are working to bring more service partners on board, you may choose other payment options for now and go ahead with the subscription.

  • I have paid cash and yet have not been able to access VIP content; what is the reason?

    Please write to us at vip@hotstar.com from your subscribed email ID with the screenshot of the two SMSs you would have received regarding the pick up of your payment and your contact number and we will resolve this at the earliest.

  • No one has reached out to me to collect Cash and now I do not have access to Hotstar despite opting for "Pay by cash" method. What should i do?

    Please write to us at vip@hotstar.com mentioning your subscribed ID - email or Phone number, along with the screenshot of the two SMSs you would have received regarding the pick up of your payment and your contact number and we will resolve this at the earliest.

  • I am unable to use the "Pay by cash" option. What may be the issue?

    This may happen in two instances

    1. If your PIN code is not serviceable (area is not serviceable) in which case it will ask you to use another Payment method
    2. If you had refused to pay after confirming the "Pay by cash" order in the past, in which case we will not accept your "Pay by cash" request now
  • If I order and then change my mind on the "Pay by cash" purchase, is there way to cancel the request for the cash pick up?

    There is no way of cancelling the cash pick up though you may refuse payment when the service representative reach you address.

  • Can we use "Pay by cash" for the Premium plan?

    Unfortunately, "Pay by cash" option is not available on the premium plan.

  • I have got the offline redemption voucher, what should i do to activate Hotstar VIP

  • I lost the offline redemption voucher which i had purchased, what do i do?

  • I scratched the voucher and it is not legible, what do i do?

  • I tried to use the code but it says voucher code invalid, what do i do?

  • I tried to use the code but it says voucher code is already redeemed, what do i do?

  • I tried to use the code but it says voucher code is expired, what do i do?

Managing Your Account

  • How do I access my Account?

    You need to Sign In on Hotstar and then click on 'My Account' from the menu to access your account details.

    You can view your registered email address and billing dates in the My Account section. You can also view past transactions.

  • How do I login to my account on my smart TV?

    • Open Hotstar app on your smart TV
    • Go to My Account or try to play any paid content
    • You will be shown a code
    • Now visit www.hotstar.com/activate via your phone or laptop
    • Login to your Hotstar account
    • Enter the code shown on TV
  • How can I change/recover my password?

    If you have forgotten your password, please click on the Forgot Password link and submit the details. An email will be sent to your email id with the link to change your password.

  • How do I sign out of my account?

    You can sign out of your account from the My Account page or from the menu. You will only be signed out of the current device. If you wish to sign out of other devices, you will need to sign out of them individually.

  • How can I keep my Hotstar account secure?

    Use a strong password and do not share it with anyone. Be aware of possible phishing attempts.

    Remember to sign out if you are accessing premium content on a public computer.

  • I already have an account on Hotstar. Why am I unable to sign in with the same?

    If you created your account for the membership and are having trouble signing in, check the following:

    1. You may be entering an incorrect password.
    2. You may have made a typo in your email address when you signed up.

  • How do I cancel my premium membership?

    If you need to cancel your membership, click the Cancel Membership link on My Account page on desktop or mobile website and we will stop billing you from the next billing period. Currently, this functionality is not available inside Android or iOS app.

    You can continue to enjoy premium content until your current billing period ends.

  • How do I cancel iTunes billing for Hotstar?

    To cancel your iTunes billing for Hotstar, visit Apple's View, change, or cancel your subscriptions article. As per Apple's policy, your membership might renew if you don't cancel your subscription more than 24 hours before your renewal date.

    You can continue to enjoy premium content until your current billing period ends.

  • I had cancelled my membership. How do I restart it?

    If you have recently cancelled your premium membership, you will need to wait till your current billing period ends, in order to restart your membership. You can find the billing period dates in your My Account page.

    You can also restart your membership from the My Account page. Your billing date will get updated depending on when you restart your membership.

    You will need to provide payment information again. You may choose to provide the same payment method or add a new one.

    If your membership was bought on iTunes, go to iTunes and enable auto-renewal.

  • What should I do if I activated my subscription using a misspelt or incorrect email?

    We recommend you to cancel the subscription and use it till the end date and then subscribe again with the correct email address.

  • What is the ICC World Cup 2019 Watch ‘N Play Game?

    The ICC World Cup 2019 Watch ‘N Play is a Game designed to let you be a part of the LIVE action and play alongside your favorite players by testing your knowledge and skill on the Hotstar App.

    The Game is designed to run simultaneously with the LIVE ICC World Cup 2019 Match and gives you the opportunity to use your cricketing knowledge and skill by answering questions about cricket and the match, earn points for each correct answer and win exciting offers. For ICC World Cup 2019 Watch ‘N Play, the Game includes a Social Feed. The Social Feed is a feature, which enables Participants to share their views, comments and pictures (“Social Posts”) with other like-minded fans of cricket, for an immersive playing and entertainment experience.

  • How to play the Watch 'N Play Game?

    Playing the ICC World Cup 2019 Watch ‘N Play Game is really simple! You can download the Hotstar App (or update your existing Hotstar App to the latest version) and start participating in the Game Play alongside each LIVE match during the entire IPL season. You will be required to answer various questions designed to test your cricketing knowledge and skills. You can click on the correct answer within the Timer, earn Points for the same and win exciting Offers.

  • Who is eligible to play the Game?

    If you're an underage extra-terrestrial with connections to the government, you can't play. (Seriously!)

    To play you must be

    1. A Hotstar user and agree to participate in the Game in accordance with the Rules and Regulations,
    2. Currently present in India,
    3. Of sound mind and health.
  • On what platforms can one play the Game?

    The Game will run only on your updated Hotstar App designed to run on Android (version 4.4 onwards) and iOS (version 10 onwards) operating system devices.

  • If I change my Device, can I continue to play the Game?

    Yes, you can continue to play the Game if you change your Device – for that, continue to use the same login credentials you used to register/login first. Your email ID/Facebook ID/Phone number through which you register is your Unique Identifier on the Watch ‘N Play Game. Using a different email ID/Facebook ID/Phone number would mean that you are a new Participant, i.e. scoring would start afresh. If you use more than one Device to play the Game using the same login credentials, only one Device’s answer selections shall be captured for scoring.

  • When does the Game begin?

    The ICC World Cup 2019 Watch ‘N Play Game will be available for select matches of ICC World Cup 2019 season, subject to any cancellation, match suspension, delay and any other scenario regulated by the event organizers and at the Company’s discretion.  The actual Game Play will appear on the App only during the LIVE Match broadcast.

  • Can I play from multiple accounts and win?

    Yes, you can play from multiple accounts. Every new email ID/Facebook ID/phone number through which you have registered will be a Unique Identifier.

  • Can I play on more than one Device with the same account?

    You can play from different Devices using the same account – do note that only one Device’s answer selections shall be captured for scoring.

  • Can I play the Game as an unregistered Participant?

    You are eligible to play the Game as an unregistered Participant. The Points will be accrued to a Unique Identifier till the you register. On registration, the Points will be transferred to this Registered Unique Identifier. However, if you have logged in earlier and are playing as an unregistered Participant, the Points will not be transferred from a guest Unique Identifier to the existing Registered/logged in Unique Identifier.

    Basically, try to register / log in first and then play – it’s as simple as that!

    However, you will not be able to redeem any Prizes as an unregistered Participant. For that, you must register.

Points System

  • How are the points computed?

    Watch 'N Play requires you to answer two types of questions:

    • Trivia Questions with three answer options which will test your general knowledge about cricket. These questions may also involve questions related to the Sponsors of the Game Play.
    • Contextual Questions with four answer options that will test your analytical skills about cricket.

    For Contextual questions, the outcome in terms of total runs scored by the team on any given ball would be considered as the right outcome of Contextual questions, except in cases where the outcome has resulted in the loss of a wicket.

    During each Match, you will have to provide answers for each Question within the Timer, which starts from the time the question appears on your Device. Once you select any answer option, you will not be able to de-select / change the answer option at any given time. You may be notified by any form of in app messaging and/or a pop-up and/or display on the Game Play screen, upon the receipt of the correct and/or incorrect answers.

    Points associated with each question shall be displayed on the active Game Play screen. The Company reserves the right to revise the Points associated with the questions.

    Note: there are no negative points / deduction of points for wrong answers.

  • When are the points and leaderboard updated?

    We are trying to ensure that the Leaderboards get updated as often as possible, maybe after every few overs depending on network strength & other factors – so keep checking. For the purposes of Winner determination, please note that the Leaderboard captured at Hotstar’s technical infrastructure shall be considered final.

  • How is the ranking on the Leaderboard decided?

    The following factors will have a bearing, in the below order of priority, while determining the ranking of Participants who are eligible to be on the Leaderboard:

    • The cumulative Points scored by the Participant during the Match
    • Lexical order of the Participant's Unique Identifier, relative to other Participants that have the same cumulative Score, will be used in the event of tie-breaker
  • What is the validity of the Leaderboard?

    For ICC World Cup 2019, the Leaderboard resets to 0 for every Match. So, keep playing to increase your chances of winning more Prizes!

  • If a match is abandoned / stopped / shortened due to rains or any act of nature, are the points of the match cancelled.

    No. whatever you have won stays with you. The Prizes, if won before a Match abandonment or curtailment will be credited to your account.

  • How can I win Prizes?

    ICC World Cup 2019 has lots of exciting Prizes for you to win as you watch and play the Game. Check out your Game Play screen to know what Rounds are active and their associated Points, including the Prizes available for you to win.

    Note: The Company, at its sole discretion may choose to introduce bumper Rounds and other forms of gratification during the Game Play. The Company, may also choose to run other forms of contests, lucky draws, and games hosted by the Company or third-party Sponsors and Partners during the course of the Game Play. We urge you to refer to the active Game Play interface visible on your Device to know what’s in store for you.

  • Can I join the Game Play in the middle of an on-going Round?

    Yes, you can join the Game Play in the middle of a Round and continue to play – you will start winning Points by answering questions correctly from the time you start playing – you should refer to the active Game Play screen to know about the Offer Prizes available within the Round and corresponding Points required to collect the same.

    If you log out in the middle of a Round and log back in, the Points scored by you will continue to be added to the Points already accumulated before you logged out, subject to the same Round being active after logging in.

  • How to claim the Offer prizes?

    Register and collect the Offer Prizes from the “Prizes” tab in the menu section of the App. You can also collect the Prizes from the “My Prizes” section in the “Notification Bar” during the Game Play.

    All unregistered Participants must register to claim the Offer Prizes and any other Prizes. You can use these Offer Prizes within their expiry period and as per the terms and conditions specified by the Gratification Partner or Sponsor.

  • How do I claim Prizes other than the Offer Prizes?

    The process for collecting any other Prizes will be detailed during the Game Play once the Prizes have been announced. You must refer to the active Game Play interface, the Watch ‘N Play Rules & Regulations available in the menu section of the Hotstar Application for the process to collect other Prizes.

  • What happens in case of multiple participants having same points?

    Various factors as disclosed in detail in the Rules & Regulations and Winner determination process of the Game shall be followed to determine Winners in event of tie-breakers and / or any other event.

  • Will uninstalling / reinstalling the App lead to loss of points?

    Uninstalling/reinstalling the App may lead to loss of Points. The Company shall not be responsible for any such loss. The Company shall not entertain any claims for any such loss.

  • Who will be responsible for Prize Fulfilment?

    After winning any Prize, you will be redirected to the webpage or app of the Gratification Partner or Sponsor through the Hotstar Game Play screen. Do check the validity and other specific terms and conditions for the Prizes on the Gratification Partner’s website or app.

  • Can a winner exchange the prize?

    No.

Match Prizes

  • How are the Match Prize Winners selected?

    The Company may award one or more Match Prizes to eligible Participants basis their Score on the Global Leaderboard. The Match Prizes will be will be announced before the Match for the respective matches, at the Company’s sole discretion.

    The following factors will have a bearing, in the below order of priority, while determining the ranking of Participants who are eligible to be Match Winners:

    1. The cumulative Match Points scored by the Participant during the Match
    2. Lexical order of the Participant's unique identifier, relative to other Participants that have the same cumulative Score, will be used in the event of Tie-breaker
  • How to claim the Match Prizes?

    If you are eligible as per the Game Rules, you will be informed about the result of winning a Match Prize by means of in-app notifications and/or text message/email to the contact details submitted at time of registration. You will receive such official communication through the App within 10 business days of Match completion or such reasonable time, as required by the Company. Hotstar shall also push messages on the Social Feed asking the Winner to check their "Prizes" tab in the main menu section on the Hotstar App.

    The "Prizes" tab will include a unique code along with a link to an online form – you need to fill correct details in the online form. Incorrect/misleading information can result in prize forfeiture. The unique code corresponds to your specific Unique Identifier – please make sure you don't incorrectly delete such messages / mails that include the unique code. The Company will not be liable to issue multiple codes under any circumstances whatsoever. On receipt, you have 10 days to fill the form. If you are not 18 as on date of filling in the form, then the parent's or guardian's details shall be entered in the form. Hotstar shall contact you on your personal information shared by you.

  • How are the Match Prizes delivered to the Winner?

    10 43” Smart Screen CloudWalker (“Prize Sponsor”) television units can be won per match for each of the India Matches.

    Model No. 43SFA7, 43SUA7, 43SFX2, 43SFX3, 43SUX2 & 43SUX3 (The corresponding model numbers mentioned will be sent whichever is available at the time of dispatch)

    The Winner determination process is subject to an independent third-party validation. Post successful verification of the Participant details, the Company will share the details of the Match Prize Winners with the Prize Sponsor to initiate Prize fulfilment and delivery process. The delivery of the Prizes can be completed for Winners residing in India only.

    The Participant understands and undertakes that for him/her to be able to claim the Match Prizes, it is his/her responsibility and / or the Prize Sponsor’s responsibility to pay all the direct taxes and other ancillary charges (gift tax, income tax, TDS, etc.) to the relevant authorities and furnish the relevant challans to the Company and/or the Prize Sponsor to enable fulfillment of the relevant Prizes.

    Prize fulfilment is the sole responsibility of the Prize Sponsor. The Company will not entertain any complaints, requests and / or claims regarding the delivery of these Prizes.

    The Prize Sponsor will start dispatching the units from 01 August 2019. The cost of transportation will be borne by the Prize Sponsor for a list of serviceable PIN codes within India.   • What happens after filling the form?

    On completion of the form, you will be contacted by a Hotstar representative for verification and completion of the Prize fulfilment process. The Company will make five call attempts per day for five working days on the submitted mobile number after submission of the online form. You will be contacted within reasonable time of submitting the form, between 9 am to 9 pm. The Company will not contact on any number other than an Indian mobile number. The Company is not responsible to validate correctness of the mobile number provided in the form.

    Please note: Filling up the online form does not guarantee fulfilment of the Match Prize. The Prize fulfilment process is subject to a third-party validation and the Rules and Regulations governing the Game.

Invite Friends

  • What is the Invite Friends feature?

    The Company has introduced the functionality of allowing the Participant to invite his/her friends to participate in the Game /comment on the Social Feed. By syncing your contacts and inviting your friends through this feature, you allow the Company to access your contacts. Friends (i.e. users who also have your number in their phonebook or those who have accepted your invitation) will be able to see your Match Scores on the Social Leaderboard and will also be able to see your Social Posts on the Social Feed tagged as private contact or by any other suitable name.

Social Feed

  • What is the Social Feed?

    The Social Feed is a feature, which enables Participants to share their views, comments and pictures (“Social Posts”) with the other like-minded fans of cricket and Watch ‘N Play and for an immersive playing and entertainment experience. You are encouraged to share cricket related views, comments and pictures, after registration, which may be made visible to all concurrent Participants, subject to Hotstar’s proprietary screening mechanism and discretion.

    By sharing Social Post in the Social Feed during a live Match, the Participant undertakes and confirms that he/she has all the rights, title and interest in and to the content of the Social Post being shared by the Participant (including to any images or any content that may be protected by intellectual property rights. The Participant further agrees that the said Social Post may be publicly displayed by the Company in the Social Feed during a live Match.

    By sharing Social Posts on the Social Feed, you hereby grant us a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, issue copies, make available, publicly communicate, adapt, create derivative works of, and display the content that you upload and share through the Social feed. You also grant us the right, license and permission to use the contents of your Social Post in relation to the Game, topics associated therewith and for its promotion in any form whatsoever, without any compensation.

    By participating in the Game or the Social Feed, the Participants consent to the collection, storage, processing and the transfer of and sharing of the Game Data by the Company, in accordance with its Privacy Policy which is accessible at http://www.hotstar.com/privacy-policy. The Participation in the Game Play will be governed by the Indian Data Privacy requirements only.

  • Who all can see my comment on the Social Feed?

    Social Posts posted by you on the Social Feed may be published by the Company at its discretion. All the Participants participating in the Social Feed will be able to see the comment / picture, if published.

    A non-exhaustive list of content and /or Social Post that may be rejected by the Company is as follows: content which may cause any harm to religious sentiments, content that is political in nature, obscene, vulgar, derogatory remarks, hate speech, rumors or fake news, harassment, abuse, flooding, spamming, inciting violence or threatening, objects that disturb national harmony, racist or sexist remarks, potentially objectionable subject matter such as criminal behavior, illegal activities, nudity, sex, profanity, out of context comments, disrespecting the nation, armed forces or any other matters which are perceived to be not in the interest of the general public or may cause harm in any nature or are distasteful, irrespective of any language used whatsoever will be restricted / filtered by Hotstar on a best effort basis.

    For uploading pictures, the Users/Participants will need to provide relevant permissions for enabling the use of local device’s camera in the Hotstar App.

    Company may by automated means or manually screen and moderate some or all Social Posts and reserves the right to reject or take down any Social Post which in Company’s sole opinion is inappropriate or does not pertain to the Game or topics associated to the Game.

    You are not permitted to download any Social Posts or take screenshots of the same.

    The Company has the right to delete/retract and/or withdraw the Social Posts already published in the Social Feed and shall not entertain any queries, complaints, claims, etc. in this regard. The Company will not entertain any requests from the Participants / Users to access their Social Post on the Hotstar App.

    The Report Abuse feature can be used by the Participants to report their concerns on published pictures, which the Company may (but is not bound to) review, assess and delete within reasonable time of receiving the Report and subject to the Company’s discretion and moderation.

  • Is the Social Feed chargeable?

    No. Posting comments on the Social Feed is free of cost. However, you can post on the Social Feed only after registering or logging in.

  • What is the 'Invite Friends' feature?

    The Company has introduced the functionality of allowing you to invite your friends to participate in the Game Play/comment on the Social Feed. By inviting your contacts/friends through this feature, you allow the Company access to your contacts.

Technical Errors

  • Can I attempt missed questions if I am unable to play due to any technical or other errors on the game?

    There is no way of answering the unanswered/ missed questions if there are any technical and/or other errors. The Company is not responsible for any missed questions due to technical and/or other errors.

  • Who will be responsible if I am not being able to play the Game due to technical or other issues faced during the Game?

    The Company will not be responsible for any break or disconnection or disruption in network connectivity in any manner, irrespective of the network being used. Network issues can disrupt various aspects of the Game Play such as receipt of questions and answer options, receipt of any sound, text, video streams related to the question, receipt of answer chosen by you, etc. You are advised to remain in an area with a strong and stable/continuous mobile network signal of the telecom operator or internet service provider to ensure smooth functioning of the Game Play.

    Any loss or outrage or dissatisfaction suffered by the course of playing the Game Play by you will not be the responsibility of the Company and/or its associates and affiliates and the Company or its associates and affiliates will not be responsible to make good any such loss or dissatisfaction.

Taxation Rules & Legalities

  • Is this game legal?

    The Hotstar Watch 'N Play Game is completely legal since it is meant to test your knowledge of cricket, and your ability to gauge tactics, situations, form, strategies, and performance.

  • Who will bear the taxes, wherever applicable, in case of the Prizes won during the Game?

    The Winners of the game will be liable to pay all applicable taxes and charges for their claimed Prizes. These will be communicated as a part of the Terms and Conditions of the Gratification Partner.

  • Do you have a validation process for the Game? 

    An independent third party has been engaged to independently validate the process of Leaderboard calculation, Winner determination and declaration.

  • How can I opt out of the game and still continue to watch the match midway during the game?

    You can simply switch your phone's orientation to landscape mode to exit the Watch 'N Play Game and continue watching the match.

  • Do I have the option to replace or ask for another question instead of what is displayed?

    No. You cannot.

  • How can I submit a query / complaint or give feedback about the Game?

  • I have been contacted by someone who is promising me the Prizes for a small fee/facilitation fee/ something in return – is this official?

    The only way to enter the Game is through participation as described in these Rules & Regulations. Any person claiming that he/she can help get you access to the Game for any type of consideration is defrauding you. Please contact your local police and report this person immediately.

    All Prize redemption is only routed through the main Hotstar App and its Gratification Partner(s).

    Hotstar shall communicate with you only through the App, App notifications and App-based authentication or through Company authorized communication medium (e-mail, calls, etc.).

  • How can participants logging through Facebook remove their profile picture from leaderboard?

    There is no way of removing pictures from Social Feed or Leaderboard if you have logged in through Facebook. If you log in through your email ID or phone number, the photograph will not be updated from Facebook. By registering through Facebook, you allow the Company access to the information available in your Facebook account. You can change this by changing the privacy settings for your Facebook account.

  • How can participants play and still not have their pictures/name on the leaderboard if they score?

    Please note that the Hotstar Application download and the Game is free of cost, however, the viewing of the Match along with the Game Play shall be subject to Hotstar's subscription packages and consume data, for which data charges may apply.
